And we start all over again ...

Amazing how when you think your life is boring that the Universe, Murphy or whatever higher power mythology you subscribe to suddenly takes things into a different direction.

My personal trainer kind of fizzled out .... After he got a day job somewhere else , and we moved my sessions to 4:30 pm instead of my preferred mid morning slot it went a bit pear-shaped from there.

Between my onset of flu , excessive allergies , and being stood up a couple of times because he couldn't get back from his other job , or there was traffic, or whatever was the story .... I just decided to leave well enough alone.

So I kind of took the month off over February while my mother was visiting. I wanted to spend every possible minute that I didn't have to work,  with her. And I did.

And it was fabulous !

I can honestly say that I feel far more settled in my new home , now that I've shown my mother around Melbourne and a bit of Victoria . Well , lets be honest , a lot of Victoria. I think my mother saw more of Victoria in her short 4 weeks than a lot of Melbourne city dwellers who were born and bred here.

Be that as it may , I digress from the post , which is actually about starting up with excising again, and the new personal trainer that I have engaged in my quest for perfection, absolution , salvation and a good set off rocking abs.

Now , this is the difference between someone who treats themselves like a business , and places value in what they do, and someone who doesn't.

Cory - by all of my accounts , a very good PT , but really kind of meh when it came to the more business like aspects of this profession.

Maxine, on the other hand , is organised with debit order forms, text messages reminding you about your sessions, and all sorted out on the business front. So far , so good .

Maxine also comes with a wealth of experience in injury rehabilitation , so I am fairly confident that my slew of injuries and bad habits are in good hands.

We've trained twice ,so far  I've been gently instructed on my cardio instructions, and when and how I should exercise outside of our PT sessions. She's organised. And I like it.

I will keep you updated.

Banting Confessions ...

OK. So in the food department, I've been eating High Fat Low Carb for a little over a two years now. And it's working. My weight has plummetted. My general health and energy levels are sky rocketing. I have gone down in size. You can see my waist again ! Key things I need to confess , lest people misunderstand how I eat. First up, I eat LOW Carb. Not NO Carb. I don't eat starch, or any HIGH carb high starch food food. But it's not possible to eat NO carb unless you completely avoid all veggies of all kinds and live on meat and fat. LCHF stands for LOW carb HIGH fat. In fact, I eat a wide wide range of veggies, that are all high in fibre and nutrients, and seriously seriously low in carbs . Like below 5g per 100g type of low. There are a surprisingly large number of vegetables on this list. And I eat as much of them as like, as often as I like. This is known as the GREEN list. Meats and most animal fats are also on the GREEN list, but, and heres the other ...

Thoughts on my Official Aussie-fication

Aussie-fication. That process whereby one becomes a naturalised citizen of the Aussie Aussie Aussie , Oi Oi Oi Universe. Not to be confused with a simple citizenship ceremony. Those are so 1990 darl. I am an Aussie (with some sad but ingrained Saffer DNA , it's a tough life mate). And I almost have the certificate to prove it. Aussie-fication begins in earnest the first time you use the word mate. Sincerely and without satire, sarcasm or feeling self-conscious.
