Ok then, so I'm still waiting for Lee Kavanagh from the Drug Law Reform Party to reply , and haven't managed to track down contact details for Trevor Bishop from Family First.
I did leave a request on the Family First website , but they haven't responded.
I could probably guess most of Trev's replies though, especially on his party's policies on treating the LGBTQI community with fairness and human decency.
My inclination to defend your right of religious freedom strains when you start using your religion as an excuse to enforce your view of how other should live their lives, when it has no effect on you. I can only feel desperately sorry for you, that your marriage and relationship with your children is so fragile that the mere thought of 2 men getting married is sufficient to lay waste to those relationships completely. Also there are several studies , from people without any religious agenda, that backup the reality that children who are loved by their parents, no matter what type of "non-traditional" family structure they have, will thrive. To claim that children must only have a mother and father spits in the face of the heaps of single parents doing a damn fine job of raising their children.
Sad really.
On that note, whilst researching contact info for the drug reform party, I stumbled across a tweet proclaiming that the Drug Law Reform party, and it's leader were anti-vaccine.
*Deep Breathe in*
Must admit , up until that point, they were looking like a reasonable bunch, even if Lee's pic on the ABC website is a bit creepy ( bad photography will get you every time mate) .
So, me being me, I tracked down the twitter accounts for the party and Greg Chipp ( the aforementioned leader) and I asked them outright to confirm it.
Greg responded quite quickly that it was complete nonsense, and then went on to say that the tweeter was in fact a troll , and represented the Australian Sex Party .
Dang.
Now that was something I was not expecting. I may never vote for the Sex Party outright , because I think their name is quite unfortunate, but the ASP are quite grown up about a lot of things, and they were looking like a reasonable bunch to throw a few lower down preferences to if I ran out of boxes to number while voting.
I was quite happy to leave it at that, but then *gasp* *Horror* I started being aggressively targeted by the tweeter. Demand after demand followed that Greg should answer this questions and that question.
So, me , being me , I tracked down Fiona Patten's twitter handle - and I tweeted her directly to ask if this guy really did represent her, or if he was a regular troll. She responded once to ask what the problem was. So I repeated that I just need to know if this random guy represented her party, and that I hoped not, because ASP does seem to prefer a more mature and adult discourse in their discussions.
She never replied. So I've blocked the troll on twitter, and I've moved on.
And I likely won't be giving them my preference votes anytime soon, but we'll see as we go through the last stretch to voting day.
I will of course post up an article if I do get a reply from any of the candidates I have emailed to date, but that's looking most unlikely.
Next up will be a write up on Science Party , and the Secular Party which I stumbled across , they both look promising. Neither have a candidate in Goldstein, but they do have Senate candidates, so I'll be chatting with them a bit about their policies.

I believe your efforts in articulating issues thay affect the society is such a good move I hope this will lead to most of the issues being adressed
